Anthony “Tony” Ross, Ed.D., has served as the College’s interim president since Jan. 1, 2020. Dr. Ross joined Bergen as its interim vice president of student affairs in 2019.
Dr. Ross brings experience as an interim president, previously holding the same role at Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri, for over a year. He leads with a compassionate, human-centered approach, and believes that for teams to succeed, they need leaders who support and guide them to stay focused – a lesson he brings from his early years as a college student athlete.
Before Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley, Dr. Ross served as the vice president for student affairs at California State University – Los Angeles, where he worked since 2000 in various capacities including as an associate professor in the Charter College of Education. Ross also held leadership roles at Edison Schools, Wichita State University, Northern Arizona University and St. Lawrence University. He began his career at Utica College in 1975 as a counselor in the Higher Education Opportunity Program.
Dr. Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in counseling from St. Lawrence, and a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Northern Arizona University.
