Dr. Boettger is productive as a professor, scholar, and professional art critic. As BCC’s first fulltime art historian, since 2003, she revised the name and curriculum of Art 101, Introduction to Art and Visual Culture, and the survey classes Art 102-104, pre-historic through modern art. She created Art 107, History of Photography and Art 110, Contemporary Art. Active in college affairs, Dr. Boettger has served on the Faculty Senate and numerous committees, was selected to be a faculty representative on the inaugural College Council, and was Co-Advisor of BCC’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa from 2008-2011. A founding member of the Gallery Bergen advistory committee, for the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, 2013, Dr. Boettger co-curated “Sandy: Artists Respond to a Once and Future Superstorm.” Dr. Boettger has published extensively in art periodicals, anthologies and exhibition catalogues and has given invited lectures in the US and abroad. Her account of Earthworks: Art and the Landscape of the Sixties (University of California Press, 2003) was praised in The New York Times Book Review as “the definitive history.” Dr. Boettger’s third book, in process, is Climate Changed: Strategies of Environmentalist Art
