Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.)- Fashion Apparel Design Program

The Fashion Apparel Design program is designed for students who desire a comprehensive two-year women’s apparel design curriculum. The program encompasses fashion milestones and current trends, textile science, conceptual design, sewing and garment construction, and collection development. In their final semester, students will participate in a capstone course that includes construction of garments from start to finish and the creation of a design eportfolio. An Associate’s degree in Fashion Apparel Design prepares students for a number of fashion design careers. Two Certificate programs are also available.

Fashion Design Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement

The program learning outcomes are to construct a simple garment from start to finish, using sewing techniques, flat pattern making and draping and to use beginner illustration techniques to sketch simple apparel designs.

Fashion Product Development Certificate of Achievement

The program learning outcomes are to identify the milestones of fashion design and how to apply this knowledge, along with consumer behaviors, current trends and future forecasting, to product and line development. Students will sketch and sew a simple garment understanding the differences between natural and man-made fibers and textiles.
